FINAL PLAN

The Los Altos Complete Streets Master Plan: An Active Transportation Framework will serve as the primary planning tool for future transportation projects aimed at prioritizing walking, biking, and rolling travel modes in the City while seeking to balance passenger and transit vehicle needs. 

The FINAL Complete Streets Master Plan is now available for public review. For best viewing, download and open in Adobe Reader, not within a web browser.

The project was initiated in the Fall 2019 with community engagement scheduled to begin in January 2021  through the Summer.

CITY COUNCIL STUDY SESSION

The City Council is holding a study session to discuss and provide feedback on the Complete Streets Master Plan. City staff will revise the draft plan based on public and Council input and present a final draft to Council in early 2022.

St. Joseph Avenue and Eva Avenue Community Meeting

The City of Los Altos is hosting a community workshop meeting for City staff to present updated parking counts for St. Joseph Avenue and Eva Avenue based on feedback received in the previous outreach meeting. The concept plan (presented at the last meeting), includes complete streets improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians such as enhanced bikeway and crosswalk facilities will also be available for comment.

El Camino Real Parking Study

April 28, 2021 at 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

The California Department of Transportation – Caltrans will be resurfacing the pavement along El Camino Real between Palo Alto and the Hwy 237 intersection in Mountain View.  As part of the resurfacing work Caltrans is working with each City along the street resurfacing route to determine the feasibility of installing new bike lanes as part of the project.  Each agency is analyzing the feasibility of removing parking on El Camino Real to support bike lane installations.  At the Complete Streets Commission meeting the City will present the preliminary findings of its parking study.  Street resurfacing work on El Camino Real is scheduled for the Summer 2022.

Cuesta Drive Calming Project: Post-Construction Analysis

April 28, 2021 at 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm

City staff will present to the Complete Streets Commission, the post-construction analysis of Cuesta Drive Traffic Calming Project, a project that completed its construction phase in November 2020. This project constructed speed humps, speed tables, pedestrian walkway, curb ramps, and other signage and striping improvements on Cuesta Drive, between El Monte Avenue and Springer Road, and on Arboleda Drive, between Cuesta Drive and Springer Road. City staff collected traffic speed and volume data as well as community feedbacks as part of post construction analysis study.

The City will provided the Complete Streets Commission with an update on the Safe Routes to School Plan with draft changes to Walk n Roll to School Maps and improvement plans for walking and biking.
